Who’s Inspiring Me Today – Jim Jarmusch

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent.” Jim Jarmusch via Chase Jarvis

DQG is on hiatus at the moment, as I work on my final portfolio project for my photography course. Like any creative endeavour it feels like a neverending battle against procrastination, the Freudian slips that meant I went away and forgot my tripod, lightstands and umbrella (thankfully I remembered my camera), and the voices in my head that tell me that everything I do is a pile of crap and just a shitter version of something someone else has already done far better. It doesn’t feel like the flowing, easy creativity we all dream of. Perhaps that never existed. It feels more like pushing a Monster truck up a cliff….barefoot….in the snow.

Here’s a preview of what I’ve been working on…..
